Saving money on prom isn't as difficult as many may think. You can have it all, the limo, perfect dress, shoes, flowers, etc., without paying dearly for them. From online auctions to taking advantage of discounts and deals, you can save money on prom. As a matter of fact, there are a few simple tips that anyone can use to pay less for many of the big and small ticket items for prom.

Tip #1 Save Money On Prom Attire

One of the biggest costs associated with prom is often the cost of the dress and/or tuxedo. How can you save money on these prom necessities? Put simply, you don't have to outright buy these items. Renting a dress or tux can save sometimes fifty percent or more. As a matter of fact, putting one on reserve can also help the consumer save even more money on prom. To take full advantage of this, remember to start searching for the dress and/or tuxedo early on in the game and compare various offers. Around this time of the year, many retailers may offer up some sweet deals on these items.

Tip #2 Save Money On A Limo

Renting a limo is almost like a right of passage to eager students going to prom. Many limo services will undoubtedly charge these services by the hour. There are a few ways that students can save money on prom expenses such as these though. First of all, consider splitting the bill and the limo. Pooling money with other students and sharing the limo ride not only makes for more fun, but can save a ton of money on prom. Know what you need too. Must you hire a professional driver or could you hire someone else, or say borrow a relative? This may not be the most desirable option, but if saving money on prom is a necessity then this may be a good idea.

Tip #3 Saving Money on Prom Accessories

The little things can and do add up quickly. Flowers and/or the corsage, the handbag, shoes, jewelry, and hair décor may cost a lot more than you may think. However, saving money on these prom accessories can be as simple as knowing what yo want and/or need and staying within a budget. Utilizing costume jewelry, going to thrift shops, purchasing items at online auctions, and cutting your own flowers is a great way to save on these items. If the budget is looking really bare, consider borrowing some accessories or making use of hand me downs.
