1. PAINT
Painting a room or an accent wall makes such a difference. It brings a whole new feel to the room, it can make it warmer or brighter or give it a more intimate feeling. Paint allows you to make your space as soft or as bold and dramatic as you want it to be. One easy way to select a color is to pull one of the colors from a throw pillow on your sofa or maybe one of the colors in your area rug. Before so get started go to the paint store and get some paint swatches and put them up against your furniture and simply select the color that works best.
2. ACCESSORIES
There are so many ways to accessorize a room, you could add throw pillows to your sofa and loveseat. If you have a green thumb you may want to add some plants to the room, and if you don't have a green thumb, you can simply add beautiful silk plants to your space. You could also add some nice art to your walls and you could add a nice area rug to accent the pillows on your sofa or the nice paint color on the wall. Lighting in a room sets the tone for whatever room you're decorating. There are nice table lamps and beautiful floor lamps that can also work as a piece of art in the room. You can find inexpensive accessories anywhere, including the dollar store. Places such as Target and Bed Bath & Beyond both sell lovely accessories for your home and you can shop them online.
3. WINDOW TREATMENTS
Nice window treatments will compliment any room, and there are several places that sell beautiful window treatments. You have so many great options to choose from and the wonderful thing about window treatments is that if you can't find what you want in the stores, you can have them custom made to your liking. JcPenny department store sell very nice window treatments and they also do custom made window treatments. Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Macy's also sell lovely contemporary & traditional window treatments. When buying window treatments, always remember to measure your windows before you go shopping.
With these three simple elements, you will be well on your way to a fabulous new look in your home. So add a little flavor to that special room today, all you will need is a bucket of paint, a few accessories, window treatments and head full of ideas.
