Three Steps to a Successful Blog

Stormy Brooke Swain
Blogging is practiced my millions of people who frequent the internet, but if you want a blog that stands out as a successful, practice the following techniques and your chances will increase. Having a successful blog starts with the subject matter, professionalism, and how much you market it. If you have a subject no one wants to read about or you never market, your blog will be lost in the virtual world along with many others.

Studying keywords, is something anyone who wants to begin a blog should do first. Blogging about what you know is great, if it has good keywords that relate to the subject. If what you know isn't a profitable keyword or doesn't have any keyword phrases that are high dollar, then you may be wasting your time. The key is to find a niche subject, which means it's profitable, there are a lot of sponsors and low competition. If you find one of these words or keyword phrases, then you should study about the subject and begin blogging.

Make sure you look as professional as you sound. Have a blog that is eye catching to your audience, but don't over do it. You want your blog to be readable, not just pretty. Have your own domain, and make it as easy as possible, so people remember who you are. If you are going to put Google Ad Sense on your Blog, it's only allowed three times per page, so don't over do it. Try text ads at the end or in between your articles, so they don't overpower your site. If you are an affiliate marketer, be sure to only do a few per page, so your readers aren't overwhelmed. Remember that people are more likely to click on text, than they are to click on banners.

Once you have a niche blog, you have to market it, just as much as you write it. If you want to get on Google or Yahoo fast, get your links out there. I have several blogs and websites, and got them all on Google in three to four days, while it takes most people weeks or months. Put your link on every member site you belong to, but don't spam. Write articles and publish them to Digg or Stumble, and put the website in the title or on your profile page. Answer questions on Yahoo Answers with articles from your blog, and put a link to the blog on the answer. Keep a schedule of writing an marketing and make sure you match the hours you write with the hours you market what you wrote.

Making a successful blog isn't as hard as it seems, if you follow the steps I've outlined. Keep yourself on a schedule, find a niche keyword with research and always be professional. Blogs are great to have when you would like to promote a business, brighten up a resume or make a passive income.
