Flower Pens- these are a great way to accessorize pens for your kids and a nice way to welcome in the summer flowers!
Here is what you need: silk flowers, pens (ball point work best), floral tape, scissors and a hot glue gun (depending on the age you may need to have an adult supervise this)
Here is what you do.
- take the silk flower and cut it so there is only 2 inches of stem attached to the flower
- close to the top of the pen, put a small dab of hot glue on one side of the pen
- set the flower's stem into the hot glue. You will have to hold for a few seconds until the hot glue sets
- let this dry for a few minutes
- now, take the floral tape and starting at the top, wrap the tape around the pen
A nice way to display these pens is to take a small vase filled with marbles and put the floral pens in the vase.
The Sea In A Bottle
Here is what you need: rubbing alcohol, mineral spirits, blue food color, and a clear water bottle
Here is what you do:
- take the water bottle and fill half of it with the rubbing alcohol
- put a few drops of blue food coloring in the bottle
- take the mineral spirit and fill the bottle up with it and put the cap on the bottle
- holding the bottle horizontal, the clear and blue will sort of separate, once this happens, you can tilt it to create waves.
Sand Art- this is a great way to get your child to be creative
Here is what you need: clear vases, colored sand available at your local craft store, spoons
Here is what you do: t
- take the colored sand and put it in small containers (easy to spoon)
