Three Surprising Reasons Your BFF is Weirded Out About Being in Your Wedding

Despite all the millions of jokes to the contrary, your best gal pal probably isn't that worried about the "hideous" dress she'll be assigned to wear on your special day. But weddings have a strange way of creating friendship rifts-obstacles to a smooth, snag-free life-changing event. There are plenty of obvious reasons why weddings can sometimes create problems in friendships. But there are also some hidden emotions of which you might be unaware.

Weddings are life-changing events that reveal all sorts of things. You and your best buddy may have the deepest of friendships. But sometimes human beings' weakest emotions can get the better of them. The rationale that used to sound shallow can become all the more compelling once the big day arrives. If your best gal pal seems to be having cold feet about standing up for you at your wedding, she may be entertaining one of these complicated sentiments.

She won't be the center of attention.

If you happen to have the kind of friend who is used to being at the center of all things exciting, you might run into a few bumps on your wedding day. Although this particular reason may sound pretty trifling, the kinds of things that make people uncomfortable would surprise you. Watching you float down the aisle in your gorgeous white dress may just be too much for her to bear - especially if she is used to you being her faithful sidekick. Women take on all sorts of roles in their friendships. Weddings have an uncanny way of exposing some of these truths.

She's worried that you'll start judging her "single-ness."

This particular reason usually surfaces a bit later on down the line. Nonetheless, once you and your sweetie have said "I do", it is quite possible that the woman known as your BFF may begin to feel judged according to her single status. She's already thinking about how your friendships will change. As a result, she may be reluctant to share those juicy dating stories with you. It may seem weird that all of these thoughts come flooding into her brain on your wedding day. But since most would consider this day the moment of truth, thoughts of this nature can't be far behind.

She doesn't want to be put on display.

A funny thing happens when a woman gets married. The wedding guests tend to look at her bridesmaids - scrutinizing them - wondering which ones are attached and which aren't. Or at least, that's what your best friend will be thinking. It is quite possible that she just doesn't want to face public scrutiny. Your BFF may not be the shy type per se; but the public attention that your wedding brings might make her uncomfortable. If she seems squeamish, it may have less to do with matrimony and more to do with her own nerves.
