Three Sweet Indie Coffee Shops in Vancouver, Washington

Phillip Chan
Coffee houses offer a really fun place to hang out, relax, and just chill with friends and strangers alike. True coffee lovers will tell you that the local, independent coffee eateries are the true face of coffee, not Starbucks or other big chains. The Pacific Northwest is world famous for its huge selection of coffee. Many hardcore coffee fans can be found in Portland, Seattle, and a little suburb just north across the Columbia River from Portland, known to locals as the 'Couve. Here are three great local coffee hotspots in Vancouver, Washington.

Mon Ami

Mon Ami offers an interesting independ chain coffee selection on its menu. Choices not only include coffee but also a range of delicious crepes and other pastries. The unique atmosphere and peaceful ambience, plus the wonderful addition of free Wi-Fi really adds to this little trendy coffee and pastry house in Vancouver, Washington. It is actually in the revitalized downtown of Vancouver, set in the Uptown Village location. They even offer a Bacon Maple Donut!

Savona Coffee House‎

Savona is certainly a name that stands out in rainy Vancouver, Washington and as a coffee house it is quite a nice place to hang out! It is one of the few coffee shops on the Columbia River in Vancouver, south of the Highway 14 and right alongside the busy docks and old shipyards, dating back to the Kaiser shipyard era. Also nearby is a lovely private yacht dock, visible from a nearby public park. It certainly makes for a nice morning stroll, as the mist is coming off the river, or a warm summer evening walk, complete with an iced coffee from Savona. Savona also offers ice cream and sandwiches, sure to please the whole family!

They are located off of the busy East Mill Plain Blvd, but their location still is more laid back than most popular coffee locales in Vancouver, Washington. Free Wi-Fi is available for internet junkies and email checkers alike, and River Maiden features Stumptown Coffee Roasters. Their menu has an assortment of pastries and snacks, along with 20 varities of teas and many different types of coffee and espresso.
