Three Themed First Date Ideas Around Jackson, Michigan

Themes for a First Date in Jackson, Michigan

Kristen Wilkerson
Finding places to take your first date in Jackson, Michigan, requires creativity compared with larger, neighboring cities such as Lansing or Ann Arbor. However, with a little ingenuity and focusing on a theme, places do exist that will provide good destinations for you and your date in Jackson. This article focuses on three date ideas in the Jackson, Michigan, area.

First idea: Mexican Theme

Show up at her door wearing a sombrero and carrying one for her. Place it on her head and say, "Let's go!" While that part is entirely optional depending on how brave you feel, drive to the local restaurant called Los Tres Amigos. It is located at 1111 N. West Ave., in Jackson, MI, around the corner from Kroger's. Los Tres Amigos specializes in authentic Mexican food, has excellent service, and the staff are very friendly. On special occasions, such as a birthday, wait staff sing a song to the birthday person and put whipped cream on their nose. It may also be a great way to celebrate a first date if you can manage to arrange it with them ahead of time. You may even get to wear your hats inside! When finished, escape to downtown Jackson at the Crazy Cowboy (215 South Mechanic Street) for dancing and more Mexican themed atmosphere.

Second idea: Activity Night

Show up at his or her door with an old pair of roller skates. You know, the ones from the eighties with hot pink laces and big poof balls at the ends; or those black, sleek speed skates with neon wheels. See how your date does under pressure in a slightly competitive setting. Take her rollerskating at All-Skate Fun Center (1313 West North Street, Jackson, MI) and follow it up with Little Caeser's pizza and bowling at Airport Lanes (3501 Wildwood Avenue, Jackson, MI).

Third idea: Book Club and Coffee

About a week before your date, send him or her one of your favorite books to read that you think she may also enjoy. When you go out on your date, head to Biggby Coffee on 1025 N. Wisner St. in Jackson. Biggby has some excellent hot chocolate and coffee to enjoy while chatting it up over your book. Of course, conversation at the beginning of a relationship is vital, so providing a way to connect over a cup of brew would set things off to a great start.

Wherever you decide to go on your first date, make it a fun time filled with conversation and ways to get to know each other better. Leave the movies for a future date when you can hold hands and snuggle. First dates set the tone and show that you are interested in getting to know him or her as a person - their interests, personality, etc. Happy dating!

These sound like fun. I don't think I'll be putting on roller skates anytime soon, though.

The Book and Coffee clubs sounds best to me. My wife and I are avid readers. This is an exceptionally great idea, along with the others. Thank you.
