1. When you first download Windows Live Mail, you'll notice that the program is indeed quite similar to Microsoft Outlook Express and its successor, Windows Mail. Because the layout and most of the menu items are the same, switching to Windows Live Mail is relatively easy thanks to its comfortable and familiar interface. But as you poke around, you'll soon notice additional features. One of the more noteworthy features is the RSS feed feature. Rather than reading your RSS feeds in an external feed reader, read them in your email client. Management tools are included for managing your RSS feeds.
2. Next, with Windows Live Mail, you can easily set up multiple email accounts. For example, if you want to use your personal and business accounts without having to switch views, you'll love the ability to automatically manage both accounts. Each one has its own set of folders, allowing you to keep the messages separate yet accessible. You do not have to switch identities or views in order to work with multiple email accounts.
3. Finally, Windows Live Mail comes with an integrated calendar. This is particularly helpful because in past versions of Windows Mail and Outlook Express, the so-called calendar was a separate program. All you really had was a link to the separate calendar program. With the calendar built into the interface, scheduling events and activities is a snap. Reminders are particularly useful as the reminder messages arrive right in your inbox. If you use a Windows Live ID, the calendar is accessible online. You can also attach incoming email messages to your calendar. For example, if you receive an email inviting you to a party on a specific date, simply click the "add to calendar" button and schedule the event. This makes it easy to quickly find all of the details when looking at the calendar.
These three little-known tidbits about Windows Live Mail are useful indeed. Windows Live Mail is a free program downloadable from Microsoft. Give this feature-packed email program a try and discover how useful this software is for email, RSS feeds, and time management.
