Three Things You Can Do to Save Money on Halloween Costumes!

Theresa L.
Halloween is the one time of year where the inner child is allowed to come up but it can get very expensive to keep up with today's times. Costumes for a young child can run you a minimum of $20.00 if you buy it new so here are some tips to help you save some money this Halloween season.

1) Try making your own costume. This can be both fun and rewarded and the best part is you do not even have to know how to sew. The first thing you can do is look around your home for some ideas. Do you have a football player or baseball player? How about a high school graduate? Or you can go with the old cardboard tricks.

There are lots of places on the internet that can give you great ideas on how to make the most out of your Halloween costume without having to spend much money. All you need to begin is a little creativity.

2) Some people would prefer to make a costume rather than try to come up with their own idea. This is fine and also a another great way to save you money. Wal-Mart, Crafts shops, and Meijers are just a few places where you can pick up some really nice patterns as well as material for your Halloween Costume. Have something in mind already? Most places now carry Halloween patterns for shows like Blue Clues, Ben Ten, Dora the Explorer as well as the classics like Scooby Doo and Yogi bear.

3) Not a sewer? No problem! Another way you can save money is by reusing costumes. Shop at thrift stores or eBay for really good deals on Halloween costumes or you can try the after Halloween clearance sales. These sales are a really good way to get great costumes for next year without the pricey cost.. Save your children's costumes so they can be reused later on with younger children. As times change so do are choices but who doesn't like a young child dressed up like a cute Lion or a fluffy bunny?

Between decorating your house, buying candy, and costumes the cost of Halloween can rack up. There are plenty of ways to save on cost and have fun at the same time.
