Three Things Unsuccessful College Grads Say

Well, here we go again, another one of my life after college articles right? That's right. You just can't get enough of a spanking from the real world. So let me tell you at least a little something before you get out there.

First, being successful isn't all about money or fame. It's success in relationships. It's making the world a better place and so on and so forth. For example, a famous quote I like says that Madonna is famous. Helen Keller is successful.

Well, you want to be successful don't you? Then, why are you, a college graduate, at a dead end job lamenting your college days of passing out at parties? Well, you may be saying some of these things to yourself. Here are three things unsuccessful college grads say.

" I keep saying to myself, I really like doing this or that and I don't know why I don't put more effort into it. I think about it, and then I think....Time to go to bed. Gotta be at work at 7."

The unsuccessful college grad has a job that pays the bills. And that job starts early in the morning so he or she supposedly has no time to pursue a real dream because he or she is really concerned with being well-rested for a job he or she cannot stand. The unsuccessful college grad used to pull all-nighters to get an A on the Chem final, but just cannot seem to stay up to apply for twenty jobs that may or may not turn into something.

He or she may have become a slave to some debt acquired while in college. So of course he or she has to work and work and work even if the work is terrible. All of this makes logical sense to the college grad. But, by the age of 30, the unsuccessful college grad will look around and say-- " I could have made time to get what I really wanted."

"I majored in so and so...and I didn't want to do that. I don't know what I want to do now."

This college graduate stays in a dead end job because they don't want to make any decisions. And that's a definite no no for anyone looking to be a success. Try something. Fail. Try again. This is life, not the la la land of the college campus.. You're going to have some challenges, but that doesn't mean you should stay where it's comfortable.

Bottom line: The unsuccessful college grad doesn't take risks. The college application was risk enough and after that, it all went down hill. Challenges like debt, kids, the economy, competition for jobs, and other thing become excuses for remaining in a job that is comfortable. But we all have challenges at all times of our life. Challenges are simply not excuses. So, find yourself out of college and stuck in a rut? Ask yourself what you are saying.
