1.Wall Color
When choosing a color for your small space, you should go with a neutral color. Light colors tend to make the room seem bigger and more open. If you would like to add a little more substance to the room, you could do an accent wall. Although your accent wall can pretty much be any color and still look great in your space, make sure that it compliments your neutral color.
2. Furniture
When buying furniture for your studio apartment, make sure that it fits the scale of the room. Instead of buying a sectional or a large 3pc set, you should purchase a sofa bed. Having a sofa bed will serve two purposes, one as a seating area for your guests and as a bed for you. The only furniture that you will need for your studio is, a sofa bed, coffe table and mabye two end tables for your lamps and a small dining table to eat on. Check out Jennifer Convertibles and Ikea for great deals on sofa beds and other furniture to decorate small spaces.
3. Accessories
When you have a small space you may want to purchase a room divider to help split up some of the room. Dividers are great, because they come in different styles and colors. Accent your space with some nice wall art and a couple of hanging or floor plants. If you need some office space, you could purchase a cabinet that serves as a desk when you need it and also a piece of furniture. Such cabinets can be found at places like Walmart, Office Max , or any retailer that sales office furniture.
No matter how small your space is, it can always be fuctional with the right furniture and accessories. You can check out sites like hgtv.com for more ideas on decorating a small space.
