1. Use products that work for your hair.
The Curlisto method is based on using Curlisto styling products. However, you can accomplish the same results using different brands. I use inexpensive products with great results. It took some trial and error but I finally found a combination of products that works well for me. It is important to find products that work well for your hair type. Make sure that you have a good conditioner, shampoo, leave in moisturizer, and a styling product such as hair gel. Curlisto says you should also use a product to tame fly-aways. But using a gel such as Eco Styler Olive Oil Styling Gel will eliminate this additional step.
2. Stick to the method.
Besides having good hair products, it is very important that you follow the the Curlisto method to achieve maximum results. After shampooing, make sure to use a generous amount of leave in conditioner. This will keep your hair from drying out from the styling gel. Then, part hair into small sections and work on one section at a time. On each section, make sure to keep your hair extremely wet by applying water with a spray bottle if your tresses start to dry out. Then apply a small amount of gel to your hair and work it through with your fingers. Your fingers can delicately go through your hair without disturbing the texture like a comb or brush does. Once you complete a section move on to the next until your entire head is complete.
3. Use a mild temperature setting when drying your hair.
If your hair is thick then you can skip the step where you have to lift the hair on the crown before you begin to blow dry it using a diffuser attachment. If you are concerned about heat damage, then choose a warm or cool setting on your blow dryer. You can also let your hair air dry, but if your hair is thick it may take several hours for it to dry completely.
The first few times attempts at the Curlisto styling method can be time consuming. But with practice you will be able to have soft, well defined "springlettes".
