Three Tips to Make Your Resume Stronger

Your resume is obviously the most important piece of the job seeking puzzle and naturally you want your resume to be as strong as it possibly can. When you have a strong resume you will give yourself the chance to stand out from the rest of the crowd which is extremely important, especially is you are attempting to land a job in an industry that is hotly contested.

Here are three tips that will ensure your resume is one that will gain its fair share of views:

Supply Contact Info - All of it

While this sounds as if it would be an absolute resume no-brainer, the sad truth is that many people do not have adequate contact information on their resumes. When you give contact info on your resume you want to be sure that you give more than just one method of contact. Instead of just including your home phone, include your cell phone, your e-mail address and your physical address as well. The more ways a company has to get a hold of you the better. If you make it impossible for a company to reach you can bet that they will move on to the next candidate.

Be Professional - Especially with Your E-Mail

Watch the overall tone of your resume and be sure that you are not using any slang terms that could be misinterpreted. Additionally, make sure that the e-mail address you supply is one that sounds job appropriate. Having an e-mail that is "iliketoparty@xyz.com" may be novel and fun, but it is hardly appropriate for your resume. If your e-mail is not resume appropriate, then open up an e-mail account strictly for your job finding efforts.

Review, Edit, Review Edit

Did I mention to review and edit? This is the most important thing to do to your resume and if you are not good at self-editing, then you have to get someone else to do it for you. Distributing a resume that is filled with spelling and grammar errors is a sure way to have your resume hit the bottom of many trash cans. Nothing says, "Please don't hire me," like a resume that is filled with errors.

Your resume is the key that will open up the many doors that exists in the job market today. However, if you want your resume to stand out you have to be sure that you put the time and effort into it in order for it to do so. By not giving your resume your all, you may be costing yourself a chance at the job of your dreams without even knowing it.
