Three Top Bars in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan

Downtown Soo is one of the best places to get out and enjoy the nighttime there is. I love rocking to some of the music, tossing back my favorite brew, or sampling some of the awesome late night munchies by the corner of Portage and Ashmun Aves. There are several places to choose from and they are all located within two blocks of each other! No Driving. So, let's take a walk and sample a few of the cocktails. Sault pub crawl, I am so there.

The Satisfied Frog

If you like live music, the Frog is the place to be. With excellent drink specials, they bring in some of the best club talent on the circuit. There can be any kind of tunes on this stage from the blues, to rock, to folk, and funk. For me, once I'm there, I enjoy live music so much, I'm in for the night. There is no food here, just libations and excellent live music. Don't bother knockin' when this place is a rockin'. The Satisfied Frog is located at 209 W. Portage.

Zim's

Zim's has the advantage of offering the evening reveler a variety of choices. There is technically three bars in here. Zim's Underground is a night club that has a dance floor and a DJ. Occasionally, there's live music. On the main floor is a casual bar with tables, TVs and juke box. Here, you can get munchies most of the night. I recommend the Nacho Supremes. The food here is great with reasonable prices. Best of all they serve food until at least 1am. Zim's also has a side lounge, called the Navigator. This is a quiet area with TV, lounge chairs and end tables. This place is totally for the conversational drinker. Food can be ordered here too. There seems to be a place for everyone at Zim's. Zim's is located at 229 Ashmun St.

Corner Pub

The Corner Pub is one of the landmark taverns downtown. Impossible to miss on the corner of Ashmun and Portage, this is a jumpin' little place. Karaoke is this place's claim to fame. "American Idols" from all around try their hand and voices at the Pub's karaoke. It's open to the public and anyone is welcome join in. There are pool tables in the back away from the karaoke. They have a fun friendly atmosphere and a wide selection of varied beverages. They also serve food here, some great pub grub without wallet busting prices. Food stops serving around 9pm. This is the place for those that like to add a little performance to their evening.

After a stop in each of these places, your pub crawl should be about complete. All three of these places will be glad to get you a cab if you're not in the hands of a designated driver. Safety first!
