How do you wear turquoise? This color looks terrific on redheads, blonds, and brunettes, so don't let it's intensity scare you away. Turquoise looks great as a solid color tunic with a v-neck and flowy sleeves and paired with a pair of cuffed boyfriend jeans and some metallic sandals. Choose a sophisticated fabric, not a knit, so the outfit doesn't look like something out of a Miley Cirus store. But if that much color scares you away, you can still be on trend in a more subtle fashion. Try a pair of turquoise earrings with a neutral top or paint your piggies in a beautiful aqua colored hue. Better yet, a turquoise bag will set you stylishly apart from the slaves to fashion.
If turquoise still isn't your style, try a little white for work or play. White looks terrific in a pants suit with a detailed jacket and camisole for work. Stick to crisp looking fabrics, and avoid linen, which wrinkles easily and looks like resort-wear. Replace the jacket with a satiny top or flowly tunic for a night on the town and add your highest heels if you are going to the club. White also looks crisp and clean in an eyelet dress. Add some cage sandals or boots to give it an edgy, urban look. Spaghettis straps or even a strapless dress look fun and relaxed yet stylish and pulled together for shopping or socializing, but add a cardigan or jacket if the dress is for your nine to five.
Plum is a great go-to color, especially for folks with brown or hazel colored eyes. Try a soft lilac or a deep mauve top to really make those peepers pop. Just avoid dressing in purple from head to toe or so you don't end up looking like a great big, well, plum. All shades of plum look great against crisp white capris, a slouchy pair of boyfriend jeans, or your basic tan cargo pants. For just a splash of color, try a thin silky scarf, a wide deep purple belt, or a funky headband. Or, for a little urban edge, file your fingernails and toenails short and square and paint them a dark, shiny burgundy.
What colors should you avoid? Although neon green and pink are back in style, if you wore them the first time around (circa 1987) it's probably a trend you should avoid lest you look a bit dated. After all, there are plenty of other colors in the rainbow that will help you look fresh, stylish, and right on trend.
