Three Ways My $100 Smartphone Pays for Itself

Jimmy Collins

Like everyone else these days, I have a cell phone. In fact, I don't know what I would do without it. But recently I bought a new cell phone and this one is known as a smartphone. Even though this smartphone is not one of the most popular or most coveted in the world of smartphones, it did cost me $100 which can be a stretch with my budget. However, I have come to discover that my $100 smartphone has three ways in which it can pay for itself.

No More Missed E-Mails

With my business I have some client that will only contact me through e-mail. This is fine, but the problem is that sometimes the e-mails are very time sensitive. In other words, if I don't respond rather quickly, the job goes to someone else.

With my smartphone I am able to check my e-mails from the phone from all my various e-mail accounts. That means I will never again miss a business opportunity just because I am out and about.

Free GPS

The last phone I owned did have GPS, but not like this one. My new smartphone has a GPS that not only gives voice command directions, but it also shows real-time where I am according to the map. The GPS is a free feature that comes with my normal service payment. With my last phone I had to pay an extra $5 per month for the service, So now I get better GPS and pocket the extra $60 per year.

Access to the Internet

One of the things that I do on the side in order to bring in a little extra cash is buy items from garage sales and then sell them online. Before I had my smartphone I did have internet access on my cell phone, but it was primitive to say the least and did little good.

Now my smartphone has full access to the internet at lightning fast speed. It's like having a mini laptop. So, when I see something that I'm not sure of, I can look it up quickly and see if the purchase is worth it or not. This has already paid dividends for me as I recently bought some antique books that I may not have taken a chance on before. My profit was $25 and I only knew the deal was a good one thanks to being able to get online with my smartphone.

Resistant to Change

I'll admit that I was very resistant to change my phone. I got used to my old phone and while I don't usually fight technology, I did in this instance. After some jabbing from my wife I finally caved in and bought a smartphone. That has ended up being one of the best $100 purchases I've ever made.
