Three Ways to Add Color to Your Face Without Tanning

Everyone knows that tanning leaves a lot to be desired, but so does pasty white skin if you are planning a special event, have a special place to go, or you just like to have that glowing look about your face that comes with tanning. The following three tips will give you ideas for very effective ways to add color to your face without running a risk to your health.

One: Self tanners have come a long way and they work very quickly. Long gone are the days of orange streaks across the skin left from the tanner not being applied just right. This is true, provided you purchase a quality tanner. You want to steer away from tanning products that are clearanced, discontinued, or otherwise put at a deep discount. There is a reason for the price drop, and it is probably one that will leave you frustrated with the product. Spend the extra money to obtain a quality tanning cream or lotion, and the results can be stunning. Know too that these products have come a long way from their days of inception. No longer are they greasy or intolerable in smell. They are now creamy, quickly absorbed, easy to apply, and they come in a variety of pleasing scents.

Two: A tinted moisturizer is another way to safely add a bit of color to your face and give you that sun kissed glow. Simply apply before your foundation or powder, or if you are like me and go sans both of those, use the moisturizer along. A word to the wise, however, these products generally take up to a week of consistent use before a change in color is noticeable. Also note that the change is subtle, but still very effective.

Three: Tanning salons now have spray tanning available. You can get it on your face alone, or have your entire body done to give you color all over. They are not extravagantly expensive, and they take a very short amount of time to do. The great thing about spray tans is they add instant color and glow to you. I recommend getting one a day or two prior to a big event, however, as sometimes you will notice streaky color in bits for a day or two. It is not very noticeable, but of course you do not want something like that to be noticeable at all. Also, make sure to apply the cream they give you liberally to places that bend or creases, such as fingers, toes, and behind your knees, else you may end up with a dreaded tell-line.

These three tips will help you to add some color to your face (and other areas of your body, if you choose) without risking your health by soaking up too many of the sun's harmful rays. The compliments you receive after using one of these methods, will be more than worth the minimal time and money spent to obtain them.
