Three Ways to Decorate with Outdoor Curtains on Your Porch

Curtains are a the design trend in outdoor spaces like patios, porches, decks, and screened in porches. You can use curtains to create a cozy back deck that feels like an outdoor room or extension of your house!

Here are 3 ways to decorate with outdoor or exteior curtains on your porch or deck:

Outdoor Curtains Idea #1: Sheer Privacy

If you have a neighbor that is to close and simply to nosy, then curtains are the perfect way to get some stylish privacy in a hurry. No need to wait on trees, potted bushes and shrubbery to grow.

If you have overhead railing or wood, then simply screw in curtain rods up high and hang the curtains as normal. This is just like hanging curtains inside, but in this case you will be hanging outdoor curtains in weather resistant material.

Choosing a weather resistant outdoor curtain for this project will allow you to keep them up year round. They can also be power washed or hosed to clean them.

So, no high beams of wood to hang your curtains from? Don't worry, you can still get the look. A great way to do this is to build a wall of lattice on the side of your porch. You can attach this to railed. If you do not have railings, then try standing the lattice in planters or straight into the ground.

Paint or stained the lattice.

Once it dries you can hang Sheer curtains or lightweight curtains on it. Go for the front and create the look of a window. These can be tacked into place for easy removal since this fabric may not be weather distant.

If privacy is not your main issue, then why not use curtains as decorations. Specially you can hide unwanted posts and columns with curtain panels. If you are working on the under side of a deck, then most like you have metal support beams or lots of wood support beams. Hand a panel curtain on either side of the beam. Take a ribbon and bunch them together toeing them on and around the pole!

You get the romantic look and hide the metal pole at the same time. This look will feel romantic and sort of Greek inspired! Use bright bold colors if your outdoor area is too much in the shade!
