Here are 3 easy ways to use faux paint techniques to decorate a warm Tuscan kitchen.
Faux Tuscan Paint Technique Décor #1: Make it Iron
One of my favorite faux Tuscan paint techniques is to paint out anything metal to look like wrought iron or even rusty iron. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways on a variety of surfaces.
For instance, why not take your light fixture own. Remove all the glass and cover the wires. You can paint out the old outdated brass or other surface with some primer. Once dry you can paint on a hammered metal finish straight from the spray can. It looks great and updates a light in seconds.
You can also paint this out with a combination of black paint and brown paint dabbed onto the surface.
Faux Tuscan Paint Technique Décor #2: Warm Up the Doors
So, you went to all the trouble to decorate an entire Tuscan kitchen, but something is missing. Chances are it is a small detail like the doors. You can leave star white doors in yoru Tuscan kitchen. Try painting these out in a faux paint technique to get that Tuscan look.
A neutral look is to paint out the doors in a buttery cream color. Once dry you can rub wood stain on the paint so you can age it quickly. This is always a safe painting idea.
For a more bold look try painting the doors you in a rich olive green. Go as light or dark as suits your kitchen. Once dry you can again rub on the woo drain. This will age out the painted doors and make them look like they were always that color.
Faux Tuscan Paint Technique Décor #3: Those Windows
So, one final fun Tuscan paint technique is to paint out the windows to have the look of either aged glass or stained glass. You can buy stained glass paint at the local craft store an have quit e a bit of fun creating faux stained glass windows in your home.
For a quick and easy look that gives the feel of stained glass in yoru Tuscan kitchen without all the detail work try painting out every third window pane in yellow. Sunny yellow paint is perfect in a Tuscan kitchen and really adds a ton of warmth to the space.
