Three Ways to Decorate with Vintage Screen Doors in the Bathroom

Ann Siper
Vintage screen doors are a fun way to decorate a shabby chic bathroom, industrial bathroom, or vintage bathroom with a retro feel. Retro bathrooms are a huge design trend right now and vintage screen doors are the way to get a unique and fun look in this feel!

Here are 3 ways to use those retro wood screen doors in the bathroom to get a hot vintage look:

Vintage Bathroom Décor Idea #1: Shower Doors

Ok, for a fun look why not swap out the traditional shower curtain for a fun and wacky set made out of screen doors. You will need to do a little altering to make sure water till doesn't leak out from the shower, but it can be done!

So, the easiest look would be to simply leave a shower rod and have a clear or solid shower curtain on it. Use hinges to install your retro screen door in front of the shower. Use two if you have a tub.

Now, for privacy or to hide the shower curtain, then use opaque acetate, plastic sheeting, or even shower curtains cut and stapled inside the doors!

Vintage Bathroom Décor Idea #2: Mirrors

If you are lucky enough to have a wide wall space above the sink or an open vertical wall space in the bathroom why not install a large mirror on the wall. Have a sheet of glass cut out to the size of yoru retro screen door. Now, hang the door in front of the mirror. You can screw it straight into the wall if you pre drill holes.

Make sure the mirror is a little bit smaller than the door!

If you are hanging this vertically then why not install a small towel bar in the middle slat of wood in the door! This sis too cute!

Vintage Bathroom Décor Idea #3: Hidden Storage

So, take your screen door, plus another one and hinge them together on the sides. You can create an easily folding screen that can hide an unwanted feature in your bathroom. Tack cloth behind the screens to hide the views or leave open if that is what you want!

Another fun idea, which does not provide any storage, is to hang your screen door on the back side of the bathroom door. This will cover it and give the fun vintage look. I love this idea for covering a plain old bathroom door! Pre drill holes and use toggle bolts to attach to a hollow core door.
