Here are some of my favorite ways to display vintage pottery In the kitchen. So, get those pieces of old pottery out and start using them like they were meant to be!
Vintage Pottery Display Ideas #1: Wall of Pottery
For a build in pottery display shelf that is affordable and not really built in look for some affordable shelving at your local Ikea or Target. The bookshelves you have to assemble yourself will work perfectly for this.
Choose one wall in the kitchen that is open or has the least amount of cabinets on it. Now, measure how wide it is. Buy enough pre fab shelving to fill this whole area.
When assembling the shelving, leave off the cheap thin backs. Now, pant the wall out in an accent color. Slide the shelves into place. You can attach the shelves to the wall with L brackets to make sure they are secure.
Now, load these faux built in shelves with all, yes all, of your pottery! The impact will be amazing!
Vintage Pottery Display Ideas #2: Shelf Brackets
For this fun idea you will need one ornate shelf bracket for each f these. You will also nee a half circle of wood. Install the bracket on the wall all by itself. Now, top off wiht the half circle of wood.
Screw the two pieces together if you can. You can hang these all over one whole wall, on either side of a window, or in an alcove. You now have a simple single shelf that will hold one piece of pottery.
This small shelf will really draw attention to a single piece of potty and make a statement if they are hung in multiples!
Vintage Pottery Display Ideas #3: Pottery Wall Pockets
If you have some pottery that is old, but not valuable or even old and damaged then try turning th pieces into wall pockets to hang all over the walls in the kitchen.
You will need a ceramic drill bit for this project. Lay a piece of masking tape on the aback of the pot. Make a dot where you want the nail hole to be. Do this a few inches down from the top and centered in the pot.
Now, drill the hole with your power drill. Remove the tape and hang on the wall. You can still fill with flowers!
