There is a multitude of ways to create your own 4th of July invitations.
I will cover three methods that I have done in the past and link to some tutorials I found.
Method One
You will need: Red white and blue card stock, scissors, pen, 4th of July themed stickers, a ruler and glue.
First, cut the white sheet in half. After this, cut strips out of the blue and red paper.
Do this by laying the ruler across the red and blue sheets and tracing around the ruler with a pencil. Cut two red and two blue strips per invitation out. Glue the strips in alternating colors onto the white sheet.
Write the party information, date, time and location in the strips. Place your stickers on the white piece.
Alternately, you can find an image of blue and white stripes online and print it out. I used this one: http://www.clockworksky.net/puritan_world/pw_netherlands_flag.gif
Method Two
You will need: Red white and blue card stock, glue, scissors, pen, 4th of July themed stickers, ruler, star templates, which you can download and print out here http://familyfun.go.com/Resources/printable-previews/previews/0406_star_template.jpg
Lay the pieces of card stock on top of each other in the order of red white and blue.
Trim the edges of the white sheet so it's slightly smaller than the red piece. Align and glue it to the red sheet. Repeat this step with the blue sheet making sure it's smaller than the others.
Glue it to the red and white piece.
Once the glue dries, fold the sheet in half. Write the date time and location on the inside.
Print out the star template. Once you've cut out the stars, glue them to the cover of your invitation.
Method Three
You will need: Red blue card stock, scissors, pen, 4th of July themed stickers, ruler, glue and a star template which you can download here http://familyfun.go.com/Resources/printable-previews/previews/0406_star_template.jpg
Cut the blue sheet in half. Cut the red sheet smaller than the blue piece. Align the red sheet at the top of the blue one. Print out the star template, cut it out and glue the stars on the seam of the red and the blue sheet. Write the addresses on this side. Print the party information on the back.
