Three Yale Students Arrested for Burning American Flag

Have the Liberals in the United States Gone Too Far?

Chaotic Ramblings
If it isn't one thing, it's another. Anti-American moonbats are creating havoc all over the United States and this time they went too far in New Haven, Connecticut.

On Tuesday morning, three Yale University students set fire to an American flag hanging from a United State's citizen's porch in New Haven, CT. The three accused are Said Hyder Akbar, Nikolaos Angelopoulos and Farhad Anklesaria. The three young Yale students were arrested Tuesday morning and are charged with two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree arson, breach of peace and conspiracy to commit second-degree arson.

Said Hyder Akbar, age 23, is a United States citizen born in Pakistan. He was a translator for United States forces during the Afghanistan war. Said Hyder Akbar was also a senior at Yale University. His bail was set at $25,000. Akbar was said to be wearing a sweatshirt that read, "I am Famous in Afghanistan".

Nikolaos Angelopoulos, age 19, is a Greek foreign citizen. His bail was set at $25,000. Farhad Anklesaria, age 19, is a British foreign citizen. His bail was reduced to $15,000.

The flag owner and homeowner, Marc Suraci, age 37, says he had the American flag up to show his support for the troops. He said he felt that flag burning should be illegal. Suraci was also quoted as saying, "It makes me sick to my stomach to think that someone would burn the American flag."

Local police said they came in contact with the three Yale students that morning, once to give them directions and the second time when they went back to make sure the students had found their way. When the police went back to check on the three Yale students, they saw smoke coming from a home in the Wooster Square neighborhood, on Chapel Street. When they arrived on the scene, they found an American flag, still attached to the pole, in flames. The police found the Yale arsonists a few blocks away from the burning flag and arrested them when the students admitted to setting the fire.

According to sources, Nikolaos Angelopoulos was released on bail Tuesday. The other two students, Said Hyder Akbar and Farhad Anklesaria are still in jail.

Whether or not you agree with the students burning of the American flag, you have to admit that setting fire to another person's property is wrong. In addition, this American flag was attached to the house of Mr. Suraci. Had the police officers not arrived when they did, who knows what might have happened. What if Mr. Suraci's house had burned down? What if Mr. Suraci had been hurt by the fire? This ridiculous, criminal behavior cannot be condoned. If there is someone else, out there, thinking about doing something like this, they need to think twice.

Oh, and to all you war vets out there, don't get all sensitive and angry at what I wrote. Just because you think you're fighting for a good cause doesn't mean anything. Look between the lines and you'll figure it out. Now, personally,I hate liberals because they protest and complain. I'm against that, by all means. I'm not a protestor and I take matters into my own hands. But the liberals are right about America anyway. Waving a flag and getting shot for raping women doesn't make you a patriot, either.

They burned the flag of a corrupt fascist country. So what.
Not a good reason for people to get arrested.

Under the twisted interpretations lately of what the First Amendment means, it would be my duty and "right" to plant my arthritic fist into the pathetic faces of these scumbags. Maybe I could set them on fire as a protest? Where do you draw the line, Libs? The NextGens that don't understand how we Vets feel are clueless, as Civics and flag etiquette have been supplanted by Gay/Lesbian brainwashing classes. Semper Fi!

They don't do uniform-only liberty since the Cole bombing, when it became very clear that our military were being targeted. Now, if you do something stupid, you're restricted to base and barracks, you get to wear a pretty bright-orange vest everywhere while accompanied by whoever's assigned to be your nanny, and you pick up base trash in little groups. Bases have looked a lot cleaner recently. If you see people in uniform "alot", it's either Guardsmen going home or posers. (exception: Fleet Week celebrations, and even then it's still not done as much as it used to be.) We are active military right now, and I know this to be a fact. Also, in the military, we know who the real heroes are; my husband feels guilty every day because Naval personnel don't get shot at unless they're corpsmen hanging with Marines. He's hoping he gets ground duty in Iraq (a real possibility with his specialty).

Ok, kids, no I haven't had a house burn down..which points to the real story, the fact that it was someone else's property, and therefore is an arson. The "flag" part of it is just being used to fan emotions. And as far as going around in uniform, I seem to see it alot. I was in the navy in the 80's and then it was a minor punishment. Fighting, being late, etc. would often get you two weeks or a month of "uniform only liberty" And if you had to wear it out, you could expect to get made fun of. Now everybody is called a hero.

I remember all of this. It is the best way for the Islamic/Muslim Fanatics to pull off a victory. They do the best and oldest tactic that works in the book. They look for and exploit the enemies soft spot...America's lib left... and mold, manipulate and sculpt that into a frenetic vibrating rhythm that says just a few things over and over again until it has a familier ring to it which eventually becomes a truth by associative contact. It is all happening. The North Vietnamese General in Vietnam planned that as his strategy of victory ove rthe United States in the early 1960's. It worked.
The question we must ask is...can we afford to do that this time? Can we let that be done to us again? I'm keeping the boat waxed. I think the US underbelly is pretty weak and has already succumbed. The squeeky wheel is getting the grease...we who can do not bitch. Those who cannot do nothing but bitch.

Jeff...I speak on behalf of many people when I say: You moron. Not only could this man have lost everything he had, he could have died. When someone's life is on the line, not much is blown out of proportion. Not to mention flag-burning should have been illegal. As for Chaotic, good writing!

Jeff - Are you serious?!?! Have you ever had a house burn down? Once you have, then perhaps you can realize the gravity of the situation. Not to mention that it is easy to leave this country if you don't like it. If anything, this shouldhave been made a BIGGER deal of.

Jeff, for heaven's sake, try arguing to the facts once, instead of ad hominem attacks. I'm sure you're smarter than that.
