Thrifty Chic: From Trash to Treasure

Learn How to Make Your Neighbor's Trash into Big Ticket Items You Can Sell

Garage sales make me happy. There is something about roaming through whatever someone considers trash that is euphoric to me. Maybe it's the smell of things that haven't seen the light of day in decades. Or maybe it's wondering what the story behind a particular object is. Regardless of the reason, it has been proven to me time and time again that one man's trash is another man's treasure. However, it wasn't until recently when I discovered just how far these treasures can actually go. With a little creativity and some elbow grease you can turn someone's junk into one of a kind big ticket items

From antiquated accessories to awesome art. Old jewelry is always fun no matter how gaudy or tacky it may be. Most people only save them as costume jewelry but there are many more practical reasons to keep those crazy concoctions. Try finding some old brooches and giving them a modern spin by adding them to wall art. If you are really crafty then you can take some of those old gems and turn them into new updated accessories.

From fashion faux pas to fierce furnishing. Garage sales are great for finding outdated clothing that even the thriftiest of shoppers wouldn't be caught dead wearing. The upside is that there's no need to limit fabric to clothing. If you love the print but hate the cut consider using the fabric for refurnishing home accents like pillows or making placemats. Decorating on a dime takes on a whole new meaning when you let the creative juices flow..

The thrifty chic goodness doesn't stop here. Anything from old glass bottles to clothespins can be created into something new and different. Before you know it you'll have a very eclectic room or maybe even items for your Etsy shop. All it takes is some time and a little imagination.
