Thriller Movie Has Movie Stars Headed to Oklahoma: Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson, Casey Affleck Star in Noir Film

The movie stars that are headed to Oklahoma are Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson, Casey Affleck and others to film a thriller movie, The Killer Inside Me. The noir film is based on a 1952, pulp-fiction novel by the same name. It was written by Jim Thompson who was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Filming will begin March 23 in Oklahoma City, Guthrie, Tulsa and surrounding areas. No word is released as to when the movie stars will actually head to Oklahoma, but local casting companies are already recruiting local actors and extras. The release date is scheduled for 2010.

According to Wikipedia, in the introduction to the anthology Crime Novels: American Noir of the 1950s, The Killer Inside Me is described as "one of the most blistering and uncompromising crime novels ever written." It is written from the viewpoint of the protagonist which is what gives it the definition of noir fiction. The novel is about a personable West Texas deputy sheriff whose psychopathic side is slowly revealed.

Although Thompson was overlooked by the critics and the public in his lifetime, he now receives accolades from writers such as R.V. Cassill who suggests Thompson's is the most harrowing and the rawest of all pulp fiction. Stephen King has stated that he admires Thompson's work because he is "over the top." Stanley Kubrick commissioned Thompson to write screenplays for two of his movies. The script for one of them, Lunatic at Large, was lost for several years. Now that the manuscript has been relocated, it is said to be in pre-production which is fifty years after it was written.

Jessica Alba began in the movies at age 13 in Camp Nowhere and continued to rise in Hollywood both in television and movies. Currently, she has starred in 21 movies and 12 television shows winning numerous awards in both. Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer are some of the most notable movies. Jessica Alba has been voted many times as hottest and sexiest woman in the world. She plays a prostitute in The Killer Inside Me.

Kate Hudson has appeared in 18 movies and received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Almost Famous. She has directed some short films and has appeared on the covers of numerous magazines. Kate Hudson is the daughter of Academy Award Winner Goldie Hawn.

Casey Affleck plays the sheriff in this noir film and has appeared in 24 movies plus a television series. He has won numerous awards but his movie, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford garnered the most recognition. In this movie, he was nominated for: Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor and Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role. Casey Affleck is the younger brother of Ben Affleck.

Also joining the cast is Elias Koteas who is a Canadian actor that has appeared in 56 movies. Two of the most notable are The Haunting in Connecticut and Zodiac. He also played Casey Jones in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Bill Pullman joins the cast and his best known scary roles are for Surveillance, Scary Movie 4 and The
Grudge.

Ned Beatty also joins the cast and has numerous movie roles over many years from comedy to scary. One scary role he is remembered for is in the movie Repossessed.

An outstanding cast of movie stars is headed to Oklahoma for this thriller movie. They will probably bring the Oklahoma-born author the recognition he never received during his lifetime. English born Michael Winterbottom is set to direct this noir film. Probably his best know film is the 2007 film, A Mighty Heart about Daniel Pearl, but he has directed fifteen films in the past twelve years. No doubt, Jim Thompson's noir novel will change how some view small towns.

Casting Calls: Casting for extras will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Guthrie Junior High School, 700 E Oklahoma in Guthrie, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Washita County Activity Center, 700 E Third Street in Cordell, Oklahoma.
