Invitation Ideas
Create an invitation that everyone will love by making a water scene. Get small Ziploc bags, and blue hair gel. Squeeze hair gel into each bag add some glitter and fish beads. If you have stickers of Ariel add one on the front of the bag. Use a hole punch to put a hole in the top of the bag. Make sure that the hole is only on the top part so that it will not leak hair gel. Put a ribbon through the hole and attach a piece of paper with the information for the party.
Craft Ideas
Get some pretty beads and jewelry wire or string and let the girls create a necklace or bracelet. If you are able to find seashell shaped beads those would work perfectly.
Get a sheet of butcher paper and tape it to the wall. Provide the girls with markers and crayons and have them create an ocean scene. Let them dress up in their necklaces and take pictures of each person with the birthday girl.
Another fun craft idea is to get different colored sand and have the girls layer the different colors in a fun bottle. Add a seashell on top and a cork and you have a perfect party favor.
Game Ideas
Gather household items that Ariel would have found in shipwrecks. Tie a blue ribbon on them or in some other way mark them. Hide them throughout the house and have the party goers pretend to be Ariel on a hunt for human items. If your party has older children you can make the game harder by giving them clues to find the items or a map.
Food Ideas
Make some seaweed for your mermaid's to enjoy (cut green Jell-o jigglers to look like wavy seaweed). Make sugar cookies in the shape of fish and clams and let the girls put on their own frosting and sprinkles. Make the cake look like a sandcastle by cutting pieces of rice krispie treats and stacking them on top of each other. Upside down ice cream cones make perfect towers. Swedish fish and goldfish crackers are also good refreshments. Serve them in clean buckets with shovels. Pour sprite into a punch bowl and add a few Swedish fish to the bowl.
