Depending on the game you are hosting of the World Cup, depends on the recipe. If you are watching Mexico play then a culturally relevant recipe would do. For instance Guacamole could be served with chips & veggies.
2 avocados
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 ripe tomato, chopped
1 lime, juiced
Salt and pepper to taste
various veggies sliced julienne for dipping
Mash up the avocados & then mix in all the ingredients. Let it chill in the fridge for about a half an hour before serving to your guests.
If you are sure your crowd likes a little heat in their food, you could add a little cayenne pepper for a kick.
If your World Cup party is to cheer on the teams of Ireland or England, a perfect recipe is one for Rueben Sliders. These are small enough to pick one up and pop in the mouth, but full on flavor & satiating the appetite. Try this recipe.
1-2 lbs of sliced corned beef or pastrami
Mini Potato Rolls
1-2 lbs of Swiss cheese
2 bags of Sauerkraut
1 bottle of your favorite Thousand Island dressing
So depending on how many people you are having, provide 2 for each person (or more, you decide). Toast the potato rolls in a toaster oven lightly, or in the broiler for a few minutes. Then layer corned beef or pastrami, sauerkraut, thousand islands, then the Swiss cheese. Put the sliders on a tray open faced and place them under the broiler for a few seconds until the cheese melts.
If you are watching a game of a South American team, like Columbia or Argentina, Chorizo is the way to go. It is super simple and always a crowd pleaser.
3 packages of Chorizo(or italian sausage)
3 loves of French or Itlaian bread
1 box of toothpicks
Just got to your local butcher or grocer to find the Chorizo. Italian sausage can be used as well if you are unsure of what your guests like on the heat index for their food. Slice the Italian or French bread up into 1 inch wide pieces.
If you have a grill, just grill the sausage until it is well done. Cut up the sausage into 2 inch wide pieces and arrange atop of the bread. Put a tooth pick through the center to keep ithe sausage & bread together. This is easy and very tasty.
Coordinate your food with your game or just provide all three World Cup recipes for any game you are watching. With these recipes, you will not be slaving in the kitchen, but be able to prepare ahead of time and then enjoy your World Cup party with your friends & family.
