Throw a Twilight Theme New Year's Eve Party

Ring in the New Year, Bella and Edward Style!

The Twilight fever rages on. The four Twilight books by Stephanie Meyer (Twilight, Eclipse, New Moon, and Breaking Dawn) and movies have turned this saga into a frenzied pop culture phenomenon. With the Twilight New Moon movie coming out over the holidays, and the twinkly yet dark ambiance of New Year's Eve, it makes perfect sense to throw a Twilight theme on New Year's Eve. Here are a few ideas for your Twilight-themed New Year's Eve party.

How should I decorate for a Twilight New Year's Eve party?
The Twilight series is set in Forks, Washington in the rainy Pacific Northwest. New Year's Eve night makes a great night to throw a Twilight theme party itself since it will be dark and probably gloomy. This alone will get your guests into the Twilight mood!

Decorate your outdoor trees and your indoor trees (fake or real) with white twinkling Christmas lights. Check Target or Wal-Mart for discounted Christmas lights since they always mark them down the day after Christmas.
Indoors, make sure you have the Twilight movie playing on your TV and one of the soundtracks on the stereo.

Keep the lighting low and 'moody.' Have plenty of candles lit-red tea lights everywhere would create an appropriate ambiance. Black, red, and white are the color scheme of Twilight, so be sure to incorporate that in your decorations, such as balloons and party streamers.

When the clock strikes 12 at your Twilight New Year's Eve Party
Twinkles are a major visual theme throughout the Twilight movie and book series. When midnight hits, have your guests throw glitter! Buy some silver glitter and place it into a plastic ziplock bag for each guest. Hand out the bags a few minutes before midnight, and when the clock strikes midnight, everyone tosses the glitter into the air.

If the glitter idea is too messy, hand out sparklers for the guests. You'll want to have everyone go outside for the New Year's Eve countdown, so it helps if you live in a warmer climate.

For the couples, they can pretend to bite each other instead of kissing!

What food makes sense to serve at a Twilight New Year's Eve party?
The Cullens don't eat meat so unless the majority of your guests are vegetarian, this might not go over well and your guests will go home hungry. Instead, serve Italian, since that's what the Cullen's made for Bella when she visited their house for the first time. Mushroom Ravioli (Bella's entrée she ate on her first date with Edward Cullen) and garlic bread are good choices. You might want to have a few other red sauce Italian dishes cooked up too -spaghetti and meatballs works well since almost everyone likes it, plus with the red sauce, brown lumps, and white noodles, it can look very gory and vampire-ish.

For dessert, you could make a red Jello dish or red velvet cupcakes with white icing.
Make sure to buy Twilight-themed plates and napkins! Since Twilight is very popular, you can find these at Target, Wal-Mart, or any party store.

What drinks could be served at a Twilight New Year's Eve party?
Any red-colored drink will work great. New Year's Eve and alcohol go hand-in-hand, so red cocktails such as Bloody Marys, Red Martinis, red Jello shots, or any red wine are a must. For non-alcoholic beverages, whip up some red Kool-Aid, Hawaiian Punch, or serve Cherry 7-up.

Make it into a costume party
Halloween has come and gone, but that doesn't mean you can't have your guests dress up as characters from the Twilight series. On New Year's Eve, people like to get dressed up, so have the girls go as Bella, Esma, Rosalie, Alice, or even Jessica, but perhaps have them try to replicate one of their more dressy outfits (Bella at the prom). Edward Cullen will obviously be a popular choice for the males, but there are plenty of male characters from the movies and books from which to choose.

Throwing a Twilight themed New Year's Eve party is a perfect idea. With the Twilight New Moon movie coming out and the sparkly, twinkly, ambiance New Year's Eve provides, it's the perfect night to throw a Twilight vampire theme party!
