Throwing a Christmas Party Without Breaking the Bank

Save Money on Christmas Parties

Christmas is a very expensive time of year. With all the gifts that you buy and the extra food, the expenses really add up. But you can have a great party with your friends or even coworkers if you plan right. Here is how.

If you are looking for a way to cut back on expenses have the party at someone's home. This will save not only on a bill at a restaurant, but if you rent a hall that can be pricey. If you do not want to host the party make a deal with another person. For example you could say, if you host the party at your home, that will be your only job. Or even if you need time to clean your home and get ready, I will watch your children for you.

Another way to save money is to make your own food instead of having it catered. You could assign each person to bring a specific item. You could decide that you may just want to have an appitizers party where everyone makes their favorite appitizers, or you may opt to do the traditional big Christmas meal. Depending on how big your group is, you may chose to have two people go in on the meat since it can get rather expensive. Or a super easy idea is have everyone bring a frozen pizza or go to your local take and bake and get a few. Usually family size pizzas at the take and bakes feed quite a few as they are so big.

If all of your friends or coworkers have children, suggest bringing children to the party so you can save on a babysitter. That way your children can all play together and you do not need to worry about what is going on at home.

Instead of buying gifts for everyone, have a drawing and limit the spending to a specific amount that everyone can afford. Or you may decide to do the white elephant gift where everyone brings in an item from home they no longer want and has it wrapped. Or have everyone bring one gift for whatever sex they are and play a game (Such as Christmas with the Right family). This is a fun way to exchange gifts.

If you need to buy a gift for everyone, I suggest that you shop at Dollar stores. You can often get great smelling lotions, candles, or nice hand towels there for super cheap.

Following these tips, you should be able to have a great Christmas without breaking your budget.
