The best tailgate hot foods are hot dogs, chicken wings, hamburgers, sausages. You also need sides so how about potato salad, cold slaw, chips, dip, and salsa. Make sure you have enough bread for the dogs and burgers and all the fixings like tomatoes, onions, kraut, ketchup, mayo and mustard. I suggest using a Foreman grill to cook up the hot foods. Par cooking items before hand is a time saver because you are just reheating the food in the grill. As far as drinks, I suggest bottles or cans of your favorite beverages in a cooler. Now that you have the food sorted out, do not forget to pack enough plastic spoons, forks, knives, napkins, plates and a disposable table cloth (you do not want your car getting soiled). I suggest bringing large trash bags so you can dispose of everything properly.
Besides food and music, tailgaters need a place to sit so I highly recommend packing some folding chairs, the kind that you bring to the beach work great. You also need music so bring your iPod and external speakers. Some venture out to bring a portable television so that is always a plus because you can catch the post race NASCAR interviews and media coverage while sipping your favorite beverage and eating a yummy hamburger. A/C power converters are always handy to bring along. You might consider packing an umbrella because it can shield you from that beating Florida sun! If you are on a diet and planning to attend or host a tailgate I suggest you toss it out the window because I have yet to see a "healthy" tailgate party menu! I am sure there are ways to do this but not sure how well that you go over with your NASCAR tailgaters!
As always be safe and Happy Tailgating!
