First think of the theme that you would like to choose and then Google it. Once you find a theme that has a lot of party supplies, think further and question how many people will be invited. This will give you a good insight into the venue that you should book. Remember more guests doesn't mean more fun, sometimes it just means the guest of honor will feel overwhelmed or left out. Below are some steps that are essential to create a well planned, themed party.
Invitations
Decide on an invitation that fits your theme, often homemade invites are more effective, especially if you can include a picture of the Guest of Honor. Don't ever forget to include an RSVP date so that you can accurately know how much of each item to buy in advance.
Activities
Any good party should have a good activity to keep the guests amused and entertained. BUT DO NOT FORGET THE THEME. Why not find activities that can easily fit into the theme of the party. Some may find this hard, but after a simple search on the internet you will learn that there are many websites offering themed objects.
Food
Food may not seem like an aspect of a party that must relate to the theme, but this often helps finish the full circle of the party. When a party has food that is based on the theme, it gives another dimension to the party and adds realism. It also gives the guests a feeling of preplanning, as they are being catered to in many ways.
Decorations
This is where the main theming of a party comes in. The venue is also key in this category because certain themes may need larger venues. However having a basic yet effective decoration base makes the party look so much better. One thing you should never do however is add to many decorations as this clutters the venue and makes it harder to admire. I would suggest that you choose a theme that is easy to buy for, as this is a crucial stage for this, if the theme is too eccentric it may be hard to find on a themed party website. Find a generic theme such as 'The 30s' and build on that by researching events that took place in that time. So you could change a '30s' party to a 'Gangster' party. This adds a lot more originality while still keeping it easy to buy decorations for.
I hope this has helped you, and your next themed party will be a lot easier to plan. Just remember the choice of theme is yours, and the number one rule is too make sure you have fun. Don't over commit if you think it's going to mean you won't have as much fun at the party.
