Thunder and Lightening

Louisa Burgess
The sound of thunder has always been
one of my favorite reasons to stop
turn around and head in

Thunder clapping, lightening cracking in turn
rain falling in sheets on the roof
gives me a reason to watch the fire burn

Dogs and cats whine and cry
frightened youngsters run and hide
I listen, and let my dreams fly

I listen, too. I often find myself dreaming when this happens, also. Nice!

I love to fall asleep with a rain storm pattering on the roof. Of course in Florida you check the weather to make sure it's not a hurricane.
