Thy Flesh Consumed - CD: Pacified by Oceans of Blood

This is Thy Flesh Consumed's third album, and excelled further with this release, (their second on CDN Records label), although much has not changed from personnel, except for the bass player, changed from Randy Jeddry to Ross Vickers. For those individuals unfamiliar with this band, one may think of Slayer from the Reign in Blood album and then throw on top of them Death's Leprosy album in terms of the style and profound lyrics.

Any metal fan, can see from the cover alone that they know this band is a force that should not be confronted, unless thee seeks to have their bodies riddle with unbridled fury of shrapnel, for this band is a force to surface, from an ocean of blood to dominate the masses that oppose them.

The main opening track that gives a serious shell shock to the audience is Kneel Before No One, as it is a war cry for intelligence over mindless obedience that results in a meaningless death of self and worth. The responsibility for this message being forward is through the vocals of Peter Mestre and guitarists Dan Jamieson and Dave Burns.

Slash Upon God's Throat is a blended symphony of metal and doom of thrashing and slashing guitars with Gerald Smith's drumming skills adding to the flocks of mindless zombies that pay homage to God and is hypocrisy of rules and teachings. Their style is straightforward, with no hint of falseness with rather undying passion to heighten their music.

The Relinquishment of Tyranny to Impose Genocide, the sixth track has similar styles but more aggressive that Morbid Angel and the legendary band Death, and uses the genres of grindcore and death metal, using the music and vocals in a unified support of each other. Dimmu Borgir - watch out this band is stalking in the shadows, especially the industrialize seventh track Deaden the Silence of Peace, that is heavy artillery and the rising death count that always occur in war from all sides.

This band's lyrics, style and music, surrounded by dedication and songs of strengths and the using the veins of old school death metal, but with fresh youthful blood, vitally resurrecting the death metal genre with hints of the doom and grindcore swirling in the winds with them. The lyrics do not hide from controversial topics of suicide, rape, death, or any form politics, yet never sounding preachy.

Pacified By Oceans of Blood's last two songs are intended to be no letdown as Vengeful Symbiosis is a true song concerning greed, history, and a world domination of twisted ideals, that is truly befallen us all. Everyone's innocence is lost, as truth always becomes war's first victim madness exists to balance the remaining powers - of tyrants and martyrs dancing with weapons raised at one another. Surrender is for fools, surrender of anything - including power and rights equals defeat.

Effortless Is Man's Defeat the final song of this magnificent album continues the anti-surrender message of the previous track, with Smith's drumming and Mestre's vocal leading the way to destruction of humanity. The track's lyrics spoke volumes of the lies and greed obsessing all, a fitting song for today's world of plight. The greed that is hardwired into us all, casts aside humanity as garbage resulting in the fall of man, a great philosophy that the band spews outward with the force of a blowtorch, the sounds on this song and the vocals burn into the listeners mind.

An important note to all metal fans, this is the new monster rising out of the pit, of the underground, that has now signed with Diminished Fifth Records, with their highly anticipated next CD. Therefore, stop sitting there and hurried to find their past and future works.
