Multi-platinum-selling rap artist T. I. and his new wife, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, were arrested late Wednesday night on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles when police pulled over their Maybach after observing it make an illegal U-turn. TMZ reported that police noted the vehicle reeked of marijuana, and a subsequent search of the car resulted in police officers discovering what they believed was a controlled substance. T. I. and "Tiny" Cottle were arrested and then booked on alleged possession of said controlled substance, which would later be alleged to be the drug Ecstasy.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies pulled over T. I. and his wife at around 10.18 p.m. Wednesday night. Deputies said that a search of the car led to discovery of a substance that was "not cocaine," but it was in the class of substances that included methamphetamine and ecstasy. TMZ would later report that their law enforcement sources had confirmed that the controlled substance was a "small amount" of ecstasy.

The arrest follows T. I.'s much-publicized marriage to Tameka "Tiny" Cottle in late July. The two were married in a secret ceremony on Miami Beach. The very next day, the couple was re-married in a public ceremony that included a star-studded reception.

But the euphoria and party atmosphere of their honeymoon seems to have given way to the cold reality of pending charges and potential prison time. T. I. completed seven months of a one-year prison sentence in December, having been convicted on federal weapons charges. If viewed as a violation of his probation, the charges of possession of a controlled substance could put him back behind bars.

T. I. is probably best known for his music, although his latest acting venture, "Takers," debuted as the #1 action movie in the United States over the weekend (#2 overall behind "The Last Exorcism"). Tameka "Tiny" Cottle is best known as T.I.'s on-again, off-again fiancee, but is also a noted singer/songwriter and has appeared in various television productions. The couple has been together since 2001.

Here's my problem. You have drugs in an expensive car and you're a convicted felon. If the police aren't already going to pull you over for DWB and being in an expensive car, you have the audacity to have drugs? And then make an illegal u-turn? SLAP! But what's bothering me more is the perspective on Twitter. I had a lot of venting to do about that in an upcoming entry. Anyway, interesting post. I read it from another AC writer first but you have some information that I didn't see in the other entry.
