Tick Tock Rain

Winter Rain

Eliza Canfield
Tick tock rain hurled by the gnarled
Hand of icy wind aggravates my
Lethargic blood awake my brain
Follows meekly rubbing her sleep
Soaked eyes before the daylight
The rich charcoal sky relents above
The next mountain to gray and pale
Blue streaks
Snow brightens night below
The headlights of a car on a road a
Hundred miles away snake along a
Treacherous highway my eye catches
His flickering discourse through thick
And heavy time until the spell is
Ended by a tiny herd of little dried
Leaves leftover from autumn
Scampering lithe over the snow like
Brown mice with a cat behind.
