Ticket to ReadOnline Interactive Program for Elementary Children

Back to School and Beyond

Cherie Bowser
I am very fortunate to have my child in the Ticket to Read reading program that is offered through her elementary school through their funding resources. Ticket to Read is a very fun online reading program that motivates children to become active readers. This is a great back to school program that is designed for Kindergarten through sixth grade and is brought to you by Voyager Expanded Learning, Inc. and they not only help your child when they are going back to school, but all year long and even in the summer.

Ticket to read is a great online program as children are going back to school and the program helps teach and build reading skills at the individuals pace in many areas including phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. The Ticket to Read reading program has a 24/7 access from any computer for your child to use at any time. The program also integrates web-based data management to track a child's progress.

Many children, including my daughter love the Ticket to Read reading program because it has very exciting stories, and activities for many different interests. There is a lot of positive reinforcement for the children because they are able to purchase items for their own personal interactive clubhouse to be decorated with many fun items that includes a basketball court, helicopter, hamster and cage, remote control car, dartboard, and so many other fun interactive items. The program is constantly adding new and fun toys to purchase with your tickets as well as toys you have never heard of before. You can also change the colors of your clubhouse and some other free stuff and purchase a cave, a patio and other places that you can explore. You will also receive ribbons and trophies for your clubhouse as you read a certain amount of different passages.

The Ticket to Read reading program has a Reader Leader Board that shows the child's name (first name only), grade, school, state and how many tickets they have. It shows the top 100 students showing how many tickets they have earned. You can view this by all states and grades, grades only, or state only. Children love this board to see how they are doing compared to other students and they have great pride when their name is on the Reader Leader Board and they will want to read more.

The best thing about this program is, your child can try it out for a 14-day trial with no strings attached. If you like the program, you can purchase it for $29.95 for your child. You may also choose to bring this program idea to your school. There is no need to put in a credit card number to try this program out. All you have to do is enter your name, your role (parent, teacher, librarian, or whoever you are), email, phone number, state, school, and request level. After your submit your information, you will receive a user id name and password so your child can check the program out for 14 days. This is even a great way to get your child back into reading so they can go back to school in a learning mode

Ticket to Read is $249.95 per class for the entire year if your school would like to participate in the program. If your school does not offer this program, this is a wonderful program to propose to your school for all the children. The school could even have a fund-raiser to raise the money so the elementary kids could have a fun program to help them increase their increase their reading skills when they go back to school.

I love the picture. My mother had a print of one of William-Adolphe Bouguereau's paintings. I remember her showing it to my sister and me many times during our childhood but she never had it mounted and framed. After she died, I found the print in her cedar chest still in great condition. It now hangs on my wall. I love it. Reminds me of those wonderful days of my childhood.
