Tiffany Marie Souers' Murderer Pleaded Guilty

Rosa Hayes
Tiffany Marie Souers' murderer is finally being put to justice. Jerry Buck Inman pleaded guilty for robbing, kidnapping, raping and murdering Tiffany Marie Souers and will be sentenced on September 8. Inman faces the death penalty in Souers murder and has even been reported by Dr. Donna Schwartz-Watts to have said that he wanted to die and has said it constantly. Souers was a 20-year old South Carolina college student two years ago when her body was left in her off-campus apartment where she was left strangled with her bikini top around her neck, as reported by The Associated Press.

Most rapists like the one that killed Tiffany Marie Souers are more likely to do it again, statistics have shown in the past. No one really knows what drives an individual like Inman to rape and murder another person. We all hope that it does not happen to us or to someone that we know but when something like this happens we often ask why.

I am not a psychiatrist nor do I claim to be one, but I can tell you from experience that I know what it is like to have your child's murder be sentenced. My situation was different in many ways, and I know that Souers suffered through a cruel death. The family probably feels the same way that I felt when the person that killed my son was sentenced.

We often try to play it safe so that we don't get hurt but sometimes things like this happen and we can't explain it even though we try.

Inman makes us wonder if there is a such thing as people being born evil despite what most of us are taught. Inman had spent 18 years in prison for rapes that he had committed as a teenager and was only released for six months before the 2006 arrest. Inman also faces a rape charge and an attempted rape charge, as reported by the Associated Press.

Life doesn't seem fare when an individual that we love has been killed or when we know a loved one who has done these harsh crimes. Either way crimes like these make us wonder what we could have done differently but in the end we are still left with this emptiness inside of us.

I am sorry for the loss of your son, and for the grief the Souers family is experiencing as well. We don't often hear about the parents of criminals such as Jerry Inman, but in their own way, they have suffered a terrible loss, too. It must be nearly as heart-wrenching to be the parent of a criminal such as this as it is to the family of the victim.
