Tiger Woods: Back on the Prowl for the 2010 Masters

Can Tiger Woods Rise to the Top on All Accounts?

After a limited time out of the public eye Tiger Woods is back on the prowl for something other than "an appetizer" to the main course. Speaking of courses, we all know what I'm talking about here. Mr. Woods is heading back to the 2010 Masters after being in seclusion due to the personal woes his family has been facing. The real question to the matter is "can he do it again?"

For many years Mr. Woods was an icon to the younger generation and only tolerated by the older golfing generation. Let's face it, it's hard getting "whupped" by a youngster when you've been in the game longer than Mr. Woods could walk.

In his recent transgressions fans of the man and sport learned they were no longer looking at a God but a human being who had problems. Was it problems of sex addiction or more-money-than-I-know-what-to-do-with-so-I-cheated-on-my-wife-because-I-could problems? Depending on the doctor and sources sex addiction can be a problematic disorder or disease and has even been said to be an excuse. Yes, an excuse since there's no amount of sexual activity placed on two adults to make them an addict. In short, it's not like having one too many drinks. Is this what the future will hold for other athletes in jeopardy of losing sponsorships when caught cheating? Will business moguls, actors, singers and even the person next door be using this as a reason for cheating on their husband or wife of the past sixteen years? Perhaps.

In the case of Mr. Woods his reputation had been the "golden boy" of golf and this was a let down for all those who trusted, depended and loved him. With the buzzard-like media coverage and coming forth from his indiscretions is it possible to rise above it by picking up the pieces at home and on the golf course to regain the idolized figure he once was? Quite possibly as our society is forgetful, forgiving and he is Tiger Woods, after all.

Participating in The Masters will not only be a test of his golfing skills but a test of character. This will be his first big tournament post-infidelity and the odds are stacking up against him but not due to his golfing skills. It is the long-winding road of struggle that can make re-surfacing to the top an overwhelming and tiresome feat. In Mr. Wood's case; let's hope he doesn't disappoint as he is one of the reason's many love golf.

I totally agree with you guys. He has made mistakes and the issues are truly those of he and his wife's. He is a great golfer and in all honesty I hope he does do well again.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of his morals, he's still a great golfer.

I for one am pulling for him. I don't think he's a "sex addict". I think he was hanging around the wrong older role models who believe their iconic status makes them entitled (Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley). The Masters chairman criticizing him was totally unecessary. And is making me pull harder for him.
