Woods Makes Early Commitment to Quail Hollow

Tiger Woods has committed to play in the 2010 Quail Hollow Championship taking place in Charlotte, NC April 29-May 2.

After a five-month hiatus from golf, Woods tied for fourth at the Masters in Augusta last week. His break from golf started with the November 27 car crash near his home; shortly thereafter, details of his sexual affairs with several women came to light.

While Woods has admitted to his wrongdoings, he may not be out of the woods yet, if ever. According to TransWorldNews, his wife, Elin Nordegren, is thinking of divorce and met with an attorney in her rented Orlando home this week,

Woods' early commitment to Quail Hollow was a change from years past, when the golfer typically waited until the last minute to announce whether he'd play. The confirmation this year came well in advance of the April 23 deadline, allowing Tournament Director Kym Hougham to breathe a sigh of relief.

According to the Associated Press, Hougham was happy with the early announcement and said sales were sure to increase for the Quail Hollow event. This will be the first tournament for Woods since his hiatus in which tickets are sold to the general public.

Woods won the Quail Hollow Tournament Championship in 2007; he's played at Quail Hollow four times, finishing fourth in 2009. Thirteen years ago, when Woods was just 21, he won the Masters Tournament, becoming the youngest winner ever.
