Tiger Woods Divorce May Be Near

Tiger Woods divorce speculation has been on overdrive all month. But it took until now for Woods divorce rumors to approach reality. Reports are now out that Elin Nordegren is ready to leave Woods, after three weeks of endless affair allegations. Woods took a leave of absence from golf last week to save his marriage, but the plan only seems to have worked for a week. With a Tiger Woods divorce possibly imminent, the scandal now reaches a much more costly stage for the embattled champion.

According to People Magazine, Elin Nordegren is now planning to file for divorce from Tiger Woods, to the shock of no one. Nordegren had allegedly been spotted without her wedding ring, and spotted moving out from her home, over the last few days.

People Magazine alleges that Nordegren's attorney plans to renegotiate the couple's prenuptial agreement. Woods' billion-dollar empire has taken a few hits from departing sponsors, but he still remains the richest man in sports. But a divorce could finally put a real dent in Woods' bank account, especially after what Nordegren has been through. What's more, Nordegren could seek to take their two kids with her back to Sweden.

If the Tiger Woods divorce goes anything like the scandal that created it, then it could be another long, drawn out, tabloid-friendly disaster. If there is a divorce, and it does get finalized soon, then Woods may want to go back to golf sooner than expected. He might need a new money stream soon, and he took time off in the first place to save his marriage - which apparently didn't work anyway.

According to ABC News, Nordegren may not file for divorce right away, and could take her time waiting for more dirt on Woods. Every time it looks like there can't be any more dirt, it comes out anyway, so this is probably be a winning strategy.

The monetary losses will certainly be a big part of it, but a custody battle could be more bitter. There are already reports from the Sun that Woods is barely holding on, as he lives all alone and is acting like a recluse. If he loses his entire family from this, then it can do even greater damage to his psyche.

The Tiger Woods scandal has been mostly comical thus far, but now the painful parts have really begun. A divorce looks to inflict great economic and emotional damage on Tiger, and turn this into a little less of a laughing matter.
