Tiger Woods was philosophical about his failure to make the cut at Quail Hollow Friday, telling USA Today that he had the same chance as anyone else to shoot a good round, but it just didn't happen. He acknowledged that dealing with the paparazzi wherever he goes is difficult, but said that wasn't the cause for his "terrible" game.

Woods, who shot a 79, has been in the limelight since last Thanksgiving when he wrecked his car outside his home, and details of his sexual relationships with numerous women came to light.

This was just the sixth time on the PGA tour that Woods missed the cut in 188 tournaments that have the cut.

Billy Mayfair is currently in the lead at Quail Hollow, despite a shaky start to the week when he had to scramble to make the Monday qualifier after missing his Sunday night flight from New Orleans. Masters Champion Phil Mickelson is recovering from a stomach ailment and gearing up for the weekend.

Woods had tied for fourth at the Masters three weeks ago, marking the end of his self-imposed five-month hiatus from golf.
