Tiger Woods' Nike Commercial, How Does it Make You Feel?
Voice Over from the Grave, Nike's Ad Creeps In
The Nike ad may give the sense that Tiger Woods seeks inner forgiveness surrounding his past infidelities. Woods is a Buddhist and when a Buddhist does something wrong the level of forgiveness stretches passed a simple press conference to offer apologies. It's all about karma, maybe this Nike commercial can finally put Tiger Woods infidelities behind him, and the rest of America.
Nike's web site mentions nothing of Woods' commercial. However, visit YouTube [1] to view the controversial commercial where Tiger Woods stands in a think tank euphoric state while his deceased father communicates with him. You can also catch the video on Tiger Woods' Facebook.
According to the commercial Nike resurrects Earl Woods, Tiger Woods' dad. Earl Woods died in 2006 and the voice overs came from past interviews. The commercial was taped at Isleworth Country Club in Florida according to The Wall Street Journal [2] just weeks before it's release.
In the commercial Earl wants to know what Tiger is thinking and feeling. Earl also asks if Tiger learned anything as flashbulbs continued from the background. Tiger Woods just listens to his father's voice. The commercial ends in a stand still as if Tiger faces his therapeutic crossroads.
HLN [3] shares some of the viewers opinions as torn. A large response seems to have a problem with the commercial due to Woods using his dead father's voice in connecting Tiger's past infidelity issues. Some simply think Nike took the commercial away from the company and into the pro golfer's personal life. Many just believe the Nike commercial is creepy. Others chalk it up as wasted money on Nike's behalf. And the rest conclude that it's a hit commercial with only a few confused of their own feelings over the commercial.
In various ways the commercial is a huge hit. YouTube users have already unleashed Tiger Woods Nike commercial parodies. After viewing a few we can suggest that you do not waste your time. Big time yawners. But the day is early.
Tiger Woods stepped up to the tee at the Masters Golf Tournament this afternoon in hopes to grab a 5th green jacket beyond that yellow brick road. Tiger observed his options on the green before making contact with the ball. Tiger's deep concentration reminded many that perhaps Earl was giving him some pointers. But then again it's hard to concentrate when a plane banner flies by attached to the words "Tiger, did you mean bootyism?"
Visit Watch the Masters Golf Tournament in 3-D to catch the live coverage like never before.

I thought it was awfully cynical, both on the part of Woods and the sponsor.
Very weird ad indeed!
Manipulative b.s., and it seems to be having a backlash instead of the "oh, he's just a wayward boy who had to learn a lesson the hard way" effect. Glad that most people are seeing through it...
Distasteful :) How's that? Cheers :)
Not seen the ad, he seems to be getting back into the money despite all these companies ditching him a few months ago.
Kinda weird, if ya ask me.
I saw that on the news this morning, thought it was in poor taste.
