Tiger Woods Out Indefinitely: Will This Set-Back End Woods Hope of Catching Nicklaus?

Daniel Benjamin
Tiger Woods, who hasn't played any golf since the Masters, is out an indefinite amount of time due to a minor knee left knee injury and an injury to his Achilles tendon. However, Woods has said he hopes to return in a couple of weeks. Woods injured his knee and Achilles, which is a minor sprain of the MCL and a mild strain of his left Achilles, in the third round of the Masters where he ended up finishing in fourth place.

Woods, who has gone 0-11 in major tournaments since his last victory in 2008, has 14 career major victories and trails all-time majors leader Jack Nicklaus by four. This will be Woods fourth left knee injury dating back to his college days in Stanford and the question now becomes will Woods be healthy enough to be able to break Nicklaus record?

Before Woods, who has fallen to number six in the world rankings, transcretions over the past few years there was no doubt in anyones mind that Woods would surpass Nicklaus. Now with Woods at the age of 35 and seemly breaking down on a consistent basis there is now much doubt to whether Woods can accomplish his goal of becoming the all-time major victories leader. Woods, who hasn't won any event PGA event since the BMW classic in 2009, highest finish in four 2011 events prior to the Masters was 10th at the World Golf Championships.
