Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and the Buick Invitational

Tiger Woods, Mickelson and the Buick Invitational - Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods are two of the biggest golfers in the game today, if not the two biggest.

After years and years of coming up short in major championships, Phil Mickelson finally broke through with a win in the Masters only a few short years ago, cementing his legacy as one of the best golfers of his generation.

Mickelson had always done well in the smaller tournaments, but had always struggled under the big pressure of the major tournaments until his Masters win.

Tiger Woods is, of course, one of the greatest golfers of all time. His name is spoken in the company with such great golfers as Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods is, without a question the best golfer of his generation.

Many believe that Woods is one of the best athletes in the world, and with his track record on the course, especially his large amount of Major wins, this may certainly be the case.

Tiger is also certainly one of the biggest athletes in terms of earning potential. Off of the course, he has his own line of clothes with Nike, his own video game and endorsements with almost any company he would want. This makes Tiger one of the biggest celebrities in the United States and the world, not just one of the biggest athletes.

This weekend, both of these golfers will be in the field of the PGA Tour's first big event of the 2008 season, the Buick Invitational. While Mickelson should put up a good challenge, Tiger has in the past dominated this event, and he will probably do so again this year.

Woods had a slow year a few years ago, but since then he has really come back very strong and is playing very, very good golf again. Woods also always does very well in the Buick Invitational, maybe to try to show one of the company's that he has a big endorsement deal that he is worth every cent. He also probably enjoys golfing at one of the nation's best courses, Torrey Pines in sunny San Diego, California and the $936,000 prize for the winner of the event.

No matter what his reasons are, Tiger always looks to be near the top of his game at this event, and Tiger at the top of his game is nearly impossible to beat. Tiger will come out of the Buick Invitational on top this weekend.
