The Saturday Night Live skit of Tiger Woods featured Kenan Thompson playing a beat up Tiger Woods and guest Blake Lively of Gossip Girl playing his wife Elin. The Saturday Night Live Skit with Tiger Woods started with a Wolf Blitzer character breaking in with big news about the Tiger Woods scandal. They Saturday Night Live skit then goes to Tiger and his wife Elin live at what appears to be the outside of their house in Florida. Kenan Thompson as Tiger Woods first apologizes for his multiple transgressions.
Just as his wife Elin surprisingly asks about the multiple transgressions, Wolf Blitzer breaks back in and explains that Tiger Woods fell down a flight of stairs and fell through a window. The scene shifts back to Tiger Woods who is beat up even more. The Saturday Night Live skit with Tiger Woods continues to get more violent although no actual violence is shown. Everytime Wolf Blitzer breaks back in and goes to Tiger live he is a bit more beat up in the SNL Skit video.
Was the Saturday Night Live skit over the top? Is Saturday Night Live making fun of domestic violence or the way Tiger Woods is allegedly covering up what happened to him? The SNL Tiger Woods skit video can be viewed on the NBC site at http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/clips/tiger-woods-accident/1182383/.
I personally didn't think the point of the SNL Tiger Woods skit was promoting violence or making light of domestic issues. I think the better way to describe this SNL Tiger Woods skit is calling it a parody of the way the news and information of the car accident was allegedly covered up. I thought Kenan Thompson did a great job and Blake Lively also added to the SNL Skit with her accent.
The Saturday Night Live skit shouldn't produce more domestic violence from couples who watched the show because it's meant to poke fun at the way the situation was handled-not the domestic violence itself. People are aware that domestic violence exists and watching the SNL Skit won't turn a person not prone to domestic violence into a person who beats his or her significant other up. Well, it shouldn't for most sane and responsible adults. If anything, the SNL Tiger Woods skit has brought even more attention to the domestic violence issue and that sometimes promotes discussion.
