Tiger Woods' Strong Performance in Dubai Desert Classic 2011

Tiger Woods, strong on his game, shoots a bogey-free 6-under 66 today at the Dubai Desert Classic. The round put him four strokes behind Rory McIlroy who is the leader. This pulls him back into contention for his first tournament victory in more than a year! Woods won in Dubai in 2006 and 2008.

Tiger Woods was partners with the two top-ranked players in the world, top-ranked Lee Westwood and second-ranked Martin Kaymer. Woods had a poor start to his opening round, but with a late eagle yesterday and a 66 today, all eyes are once again upon him.

He finished with six birdies and was a 7-under 137 entering the weekend at Emirates Golf Club. "I felt like I drove it pretty good," Wood said. "I feel good. We worked out a few of the things last night that I didn't like."

So, although the Dubai Desert Classic is not a golf major, fans get riled up by this "glimmer of hope" over Woods' competent playing. Will he sustain it? We'll see.
