Tiger Woods Today - Unbelievable, at Best

Do You Really Believe Anything He Says

JUNEANN REED
Tiger Wood was a great golfer.

Tiger Woods is once again on TV, with the media gobbling up his every word. He's a great looking man who has many accomplishments. He had great support from his family earlier in his career. He was a super hero to many - both older and younger.

Mr. Tiger Woods had been known for his wild lifestyle. When he and his wife married, he promised he would no longer continue to use and abuse women. We were told how women loved him and they loved his fame and money. They came on to him and we are told he couldn't resist.

Well, this year we also learned the rest of the story. The media published the story to the whole world about Tiger Woods and his unfaithfulness on one bad night.

In other words, he got caught! He hadn't stopped exploiting women. In fact, the number of women coming forth is unreal. It seems he kept his zipper busy.

Now we're supposed to believe that Tiger is cured of his desire for sexual exploits. I don't think so.

When this story comes on the news, just how are we to talk with our pre-teen sons and daughters? They are just becoming very interested in sports and need to look to heros who've worked hard and have mastered very difficult feats.

How do you have serious talks with teens who are easily led astray with a variety of lifestyles? To them, and to many of us, it looks like whatever goes is just fine. We can get by with anything if we have great talking points provided to us. Or, if we're good enough or powerful enough we don't need to actually follow the rules.

But how many lives has Tiger Woods tarnished or destroyed? We learn how money talks and what people will do to get power, fame and money. We learn how men, especially, think the actions of Tiger Woods were just a fling and we should get over it. Let him play golf! OK - let him play golf. Don't broadcast how great this man is and don't expect everyone to swallow his story.

The very bad thing about this whole episode is that Tiger Woods was just one man who got caught. We see this same abuse of power continue in the church field, in the political arena, in our public schools and by our local law enforcement.

Until women, families and leaders truly speak out this abuse will continue. Those men in power - with fame and glory feel no shame for their rotten and abusive lifestyles.

Mr. Tiger Woods and others who want to be heros for our children - listen up!
