Tiger Woods Trying the 'Mad Men' Lifestyle in New York City

Roz Zurko
It appears that Tiger Woods may be giving the Mad Men lifestyle a try with his new bachelor pad in New York City.
Woods recently moved into a Manhattan apartment building, according to the NY Daily News, which would allow him a real swinging bachelor's life if this is where he is going with this move.

If Woods is a fan of the show Mad Men, he can pick up a few tips from Don Draper, the newly divorced ad man on AMC's hit show. This new Mad Men bachelor got himself an apartment in the city, just like Woods has done.

Draper doesn't fraternize with his neighbors, except for the cute airline stewardess across the hall. Draper keeps to himself and won't even venture a "hello" in the halls, which may open a door for a conversation. This is something Woods will need to do; you don't want busy body neighbors talking to the media.

One of the things that an apartment has that a single house does not is a lobby. The lobby can act as a great camouflage unit for Woods if he should so choose to pick up where he left off with his parade of women.

No one is going to know who is going where in a building with a lobby. Woods could feasibly have a new girl every day come up to his place without the public knowing. Once on the elevator, there is no way to tell what apartment a conquest will be entering. The lobby gives a little more anonymity than the front door of a single-family home.

Mad Men's Don Draper has already had a handful of young girls grace his place, even two in one night. He woke up one morning not knowing who it was next to him. Draper didn't know her name until reading the name tag on her waitress uniform, as it lay on top of a heap of clothes by the side of the bed. This is not a lifestyle to aspire to.

Woods will probably have a new best friend with this move to New York. This will most likely be his doorman. The doorman in his apartment building can look forward to going up a few brackets in his earnings this year, because he is going to need to practice confidentiality to the max with Woods moving in.

Keeping the doorman to the utmost discretion does not come cheap, and Woods will need to at least cover the cost of offers that the doorman in his building will be getting from the media to guard against "leaks."

The Mad Men life will indeed fit the old lifestyle of Woods. There is no reason to believe he will change his ways now that he can do whatever he likes with his new single status. A swinging lifestyle will not involve cheating anymore; he is free to mix it up with whomever he chooses.

With the field day he had while he was married, the single life should allow him to bump up the volume of this. It did for Mad Men's Draper; why wouldn't it for Woods?

The sad part about the Mad Men lifestyle is that Draper is a very lonely man: He is feeling the loss of his family as time goes on. The booze had become a self-medicating ritual, more so than ever. He is not happy and misses his family. Will this be the fate for Woods too? Only time will tell with his new Mad Men-like venture in the Big Apple.

I believe Tiger is very sad about what happened to him and his family and it's reflected in his golf game. Unfortunately for Tiger, he can't turn the clock back.

Tiger may no longer be married, but common sense says that the first woman he gets involved with is going to hurt Elin and hurt her badly. Emotions cannot be turned off like a tap. When you love someone, it hurts to see them with someone else, even if you're not married to them. I know.

Uckkk...I can't believe I used to think this guy was a nice looking, quality role model! BTW, Roz, have you noticed that comments are way down now in general?

Tiger is no longer married so why the snide comments - he is hurting no one so why not just let it go.
