Tiger's Comeback is Complete with a Victory at Bay Hill

Tiger Woods completed his comeback on Sunday with an incredible win at Bay Hill. You could almost sense that this was going to happen. It is a course that Tiger has dominated over the past several years and he has made a habit of heroic 18th hole putts here. Today would be no different as he once again buried a long putt on the 72nd hole of the tournament to capture his first win in only his third start back after surgery.

Tiger started the day 5 strokes behind O'Hair and for his part, he held his ground pretty good. He shot a 73 today, which is not an easy thing to do when you have Tiger Woods staring you down on every hole. He can hold is head up knowing that he held off Tiger for about as long as he could hope. Unfortunately for him, Tiger loves the last hole and as Johnny Miller stated after the round of golf, "He is the best pressure putter to ever play the game." There isn't a golfer past or present that buries that putt time and again when they absolutely have to have it to win.

Tiger started the day off with a purpose. He birdied 2 of the first 3 holes of the day and then stumbled with a bogey on the 460yd par 4 4th hole. He quickly regained his groove though and after a couple of pars, threw down another birdie on the long par 3 7th hole. Tiger continued to get par after par while O'Hair stumbled. When Tiger birdied the 15th and O'Hair bogeyed the 16th, it appeared as though the comeback was complete, but not so fast. It may have been a momentary lapse or a burst of excitement, but Tiger bogeyed the 17th and they were all tied up again.

Both players found the fairway on the 18th, but O'Hair's drive was a little shorter and made his approach shot first. After a lengthy discussion with his caddy, O'Hair hit a 7 iron into the green, but pulled the shot just a little bit to the left. He got a good bounce off of the fringe and the ball kicked back onto the green. However, he was about 50ft. away and Tiger was chomping at the bit to knock it stiff. As Tiger stepped up to the ball, you could almost sense that he was going to put this one close. He hit a wonderful cut shot and had a mere 15ft 11inches standing between him and another PGA Tour victory.

O'Hair hit his putt, but came up about 4ft short. As Johnson was finishing out, Tiger continued to stalk the putt to get the perfect line. As he settled over his putt, someone started screaming and Tiger had to back off the putt. Once he stood back over the ball, it was a perfect strike and there was never a doubt where this putt was going to end up. Just as the ball started to lose its steam, it slid into the left edge and we were treated to the patented Tiger fist pump.

Tiger Woods looks stronger and more intense than ever out on the golf course. Every time people think he is down or question his game, he proves them wrong tenfold. Every question is now officially answered. Tiger is back and he is ready for battle. The Masters will be his next tournament and the smart money is that Tiger will be adding another green jacket to his wardrobe at the end of the weekend.
