Tila Tequila Attacked at Insane Clown Posse Concert

Assault, or a Shot at Attention?

Tila Tequila is no stranger to tabloids. The model-turned-singer was engaged to the late Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson, was the bachelorette on her own bisexual reality TV show, and rose to fame as the most popular person on then-popular social networking platform MySpace. Many denounce the starlet as being attention hungry and willing to do anything for a headline - including claiming a miscarriage, and a pregnancy by rapper The Game. Whether you love her or hate her, she never quite seems to go away. The latest chapter in Tila Tequila's tabloid history is her claim that she was viciously attacked while performing at a rap concert.

At Insane Clown Posse's annual Gathering of the Juggalos convention and concert festival, fans of the rap duo and related acts such as Twiztid and Kottonmouth Kings converge in southern Illinois. Different artists perform each year; past headliners include Mushroomhead, Digital Underground and Ice Cube. Everything from backyard wrestling to beauty pageants takes place between concerts and other festivities. Despite the violent and grotesque lyrics by the groups involved with ICP's Psychopathic Records label, the juggalo (the nickname given to fans of ICP) community is something of an extended family for the outcasts and freaks who make up the duo's fanbase.

Though the juggalos can be a peaceful, welcoming community, things frequently go wrong. In fact, the Gathering of the Juggalos has changed locations multiple times since its start in 2000. Stage rushing, riots, fights, drug use and garbage left behind by convention attendees led to the event being banned from re-booking venues. Police have been called to GOTJ multiple times over the years, even having to use tear gas on one occasion. Since 2007 the convention has been held in Cave-in-Rock, Illinois, where Tila Tequila was reportedly attacked.

In an interview given to gossip outlet TMZ, Tila claims that she had "huge stones" thrown at her before even taking the stage. Firecrackers, beer bottles and even human waste taken from portable toilets are also among the items reportedly thrown at Tila. After being hit in the head with a firecracker, Tila's bodyguard and other security ushered the starlet to a nearby trailer. She claims the crowd of 2,000 fans followed - surrounding the trailer and breaking its windows. "These people were trying to kill me," she told TMZ.

Photos on TMZ show the wounds incurred by Tila Tequila, including a large gash on her right cheekbone and some cuts and bruises along her body. In the course of the attack, she also claims that her hair was burnt and one of her eyes was cut open by a beer bottle. Police were reportedly called to the scene, but were legally unable to comment on the attack. Whether this was a genuine attack on Tila Tequila or another publicity stunt remains to be seen.
